Sites Updated!!

Finally completed it all!!

For yongs I've wanted to revamp and update these sites

It began in December 2006: Before leaving for WTP3 I had got tired of my old web hosting company (Lycos) since they were expensive and generally crap! I'd found a new one (SiteGround) that was much cheaper and offered billions mores services per £! Deciding to take the plunge I left behind 4 years with Lycos and initiated a transfer of things over....then left the country for 3 months!!

As it happens Lycos continued to be shiite and never pulled there finger out on time for the transfer to happen when I wanted it - leaving me in limbo and the owner of two web hosting accounts - both of which were half complete!!

Returning back home I started slapping Lycos about and began to make full use of the 250GB, 99.9% Uptime, unlimited MySQL, 2500GB traffic that SiteGround offered (only costs me now $4/£2 per month!).

I set about playing around and creating the following sub sites and little open source applications and filling them with my stuff. At present there are these sites (in order of evolution!):

The format is - http://SITENAME.hemantmistry.com

  • Journal

    - Employed as an active and comprehensive travel journal with cross referencing to resources and my travel information & photos.

  • Kiran

    - Set up to help Kiranbhai publish and record his Himalayan Trek. Also used to help market and raise more towards his charity's total.

  • Photos

    - With digital photos you end up taking loads of pictures! This Album helped me to manage, publish and share these selected images.

  • Blog

    - Converted from my Blogger site, this was brought back onto my web space and now used for mobile phone blogging.

  • Anand

    - Starting to use the applications available to me, I tried out SohoLaunch to construct this site. Primary static content, rarely needs updating, and links around the web.

  • Goose

    - Goose site was to replace the domain MistryBrothers that I wasn't going to renew. Compiled by collating the various bits that had accumulated on my desktop and trying to do something with them. Using Joomla for the first time and experimenting with dynamic content and various componets & modules. Embedded into it I place the new MistryBrothers Blog.

  • Projects

    - Playing around with OpenSource, dotProject is a powerful Project Managing software.

  • Travel

    - The Journal site was too complex and lack quick usability, I needed somewhere to collate just travel information (not large blogs). Completely tweakable, Drupal allowed me to create this and link into my photo albums. Its self filtering also helped manage the HTML used in posts.

  • www2

    - Putting it all together! Trying to recreate my homepage how I wanted it and how I used it! Mainly link based, with RSS readers and a small blog. I also embedded a Ham Support system to track any futures queries and stuff!

  • Test

    - My test ground for various applications.

Now if I could just pull my finger out, I can make something good come out of all this playing around!
